EDB Insights: Inclusion is an invitation to the Master’s house – Book now
On Tuesday 17 May we’re welcoming Musharrat J. Ahmed-Landeryou, Associate Professor, Occupational Therapy, London South Bank University, to speak to us and the occupational therapy community.
This event is part of our EDB Insights series, where we’ve invited people to talk about the topics of equity, diversity and belonging, so we can all reflect and use the lessons learned in our practices.
There is movement for change globally in occupational therapy, with intentions to change or statements of solidarity with the ‘correct’ terms, mostly with little impetus for impactful change. Musharrat is evoking colonial terms in relation to the current efforts to improve equity, diversity, belonging and justice in occupational therapy to provoke critical thinking and invoke active change.
Her Decolonising Curriculum Checklist Wheel: A Reflective Framework will now become part of the academic curriculum strategic framework at LSBU. Musharrat is co-founder of BAME OTUK, a network of BME heritages occupational therapy students, staff and educators, to disrupt recycling of institutional racism and discrimination in the profession nationally and internationally.
We’re looking forward to hearing from Musharrat J. Ahmed-Landeryou and would love for you to join us.
Find out more about the event and book your ticket.
A recording will be available to members after the event.
If you’re like us and would like to plan ahead, see our other upcoming EDB Insights events.
