Enhanced practice for occupational therapists
What is enhanced practice?
Enhanced level practice apprenticeships will enable occupational therapists to grow their careers to suit their aspirations.
It will also support with retaining the workforce – improving job satisfaction and enabling employers to upskill their workforce in line with service demand.
The success of enhanced level practice relies on partnerships across health, social care and education and should be centred around population needs.
Are you interested in delivering enhanced practice education or embedding enhanced practice into the work you do as an occupational therapist?
In May and June 2024 we hosted three complimentary sessions to inform, inspire and develop the knowledge and skills of OTs at an enhanced level of practice.
Our first two webinars were aimed at specific audiences and are now ready to be watched back:
- Higher Education Institutes
- Employers of OTs.
They are led by subject experts:
- Dr Kim Stuart, Curriculum Lead Associate Professor – Academic, School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health at Coventry University
- Louise Henstock, Directorate Lead for Learning and Teaching, Allied & Public Health Directorate at University of Salford
- Suhailah Mohamed, Head of Practice and Workforce, RCOT.
The third webinar was for OTs wanting to ask questions and was not recorded.

Once you've had a chance to review the webinars above, you can now take your learning forward to build bridges and work collaboratively between HEIs, employers and OTs to implement enhanced level practice apprenticeships.
We'd love to here how your implementation is progressing!
