The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) will soon be bringing in new changes and updates to the Standards of conduct, performance and ethics, which all OTs will need to be aware of. Updates will come into effect from Sunday 1 September 2024.
HCPC regularly reviews the Standards of conduct, performance and ethics to make sure they are relevant to current practice.
OT professionals need to make sure they’re familiar with the changes and follow them so they can remain registered.
As well as new standards, there are updates to existing standards covering several themes:
- equity diversity and belonging
-
communication
-
duty of candour
-
upskilling and training responsibilities
-
managing existing health conditions and disabilities in the workplace
-
sustainability.
Next steps for OT professionals
OTs can Register with the HCPC to get updates and attend one of the webinars which support OTs with the revisions to the standards.
You can find all the information relating to the updated standards on the HCPC’s dedicated page.
