Meet Colleen

I have been working for the Post Covid Service in Norfolk & Waveney ICB since October 2021. My role is to support people to manage their long covid symptoms when they prepare to return and remain at work. Prior to this, I worked in pain management but most of my experience has been in outpatient/community brain injury rehab.
I decided to join the Specialist Section – Work committee after I attended the online study day in November 2022. I was so impressed with the content and collaboration. I really wanted to spend more time around this group of driven and experienced OTs! Not only did I want to enhance my own practice by being involved but I feel passionate about supporting OTs entering vocational rehabilitation. There is so much to consider and implement and often with very little clinical guidance for people. Vocational rehab is often an add on to another clinical role and the line manager may not have a good understanding of what is really involved in VR. There is so much information members can access for evidence based practice.
If you have not attended one of our bi-monthly peer support sessions yet, I would really encourage you to ring-fence that time. Do you need to identify it within your PDRs so you can regularly attend? A lot is shared in an informal and supportive forum. All questions lead to new learning/validation for all that join these sessions.
