Karin Orman, Director of Practice and Innovation, responds to the social care pledges in the Liberal Democrat manifesto for the July 2024 election.
Karin Orman, Director of Practice and Innovation at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists, said:
‘Occupational therapists are the cornerstone of England’s social care system. They play a paramount role in preventing, reducing and delaying the need for statutory services and meeting the profound care needs of the population.
‘However, thousands of occupational therapists working in social care are crying out for support as they see sharp increases in demand. We’re calling on all parties to recognise this. Our hardworking social care workforce must be supported fully by whoever forms the next government.’
We will be responding to the main parties' manifestos as they are released.
