The first UK Pride took place in 1972. Although society has made a huge amount of progress, there is still so much more to do.
Our hero 'O'
To mark Pride this year, we've changed the ‘O’ in our RCOT logo for this month to show solidarity with our LGBTQIA+ members, staff and people everywhere.
The flag we’ve used is the most recent inclusive pride flag, showcasing the diversity and expanse of the LGBTQIA+ community. The ‘O’ in our logo represents our identity as an organisation, and we wouldn’t be here without LGBTQIA+ people, now and before.
Pride at RCOT in 2024
To mark this month, we want to showcase not only the voices of our members but of our staff also.
This year you'll see:
- a blog on LGBTQ+ allyship from Savania China – our Head of Inclusion and Involvement
- a joint OTnews article from our LGBTQIA+ Expert Advisory Group (EAG) and our LGBTQIA+ Colleague Network
- a piece focused on learning to improve support for LGBTQ+ people in later life from Dr Trish Hafford-Letchfield
... plus other engagement pieces and opportunites to learn.
We'll update this page with links and details as more content releases.
Join your OT community at London Pride
Join your LGBTQ+ occupational therapy community and allies for an informal meet-up at London Pride from 1pm, Saturday 29 June 2024.
This is an opportunity to bring our LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies together, build connections and take in the amazing atmosphere - showing solidarity within our profession.
This will be the first time OTs (past, present and future) and their colleagues have come together at London Pride and will serve as a test-bed for future involvement in London, regional and other Pride events.
If you can't get into London, we'd still love to find out what you're doing and your involvement at local and other Pride events. This will help us plan activities for future years.
Please fill in this short form to let us know if you plan on attending, or if you would like to attend something like this but can't make it to London Pride.
