Research Connect
Research Connect is a vibrant research community where members can discuss, research and develop confidence among other occupational therapists and learn from one another.
- Connect with other research-interested members.
- Share knowledge, skills and best practice.
- Build research confidence.
This community group is for any RCOT member, whether you’re a learner, early career researcher, a more experienced researcher, or just curious to learn more. We aim to showcase and celebrate occupational therapy research, so do get involved!
For more information about RCOT Research Connect read our FAQs.
How do I get involved?
We’ve moved from our LinkedIn group to a new digital platform to host RCOT Communities. Research Connect is part of a small-scale test and learn phase where we’ll use your experience and involvement to develop our community model and the digital platform in preparation for a wider rollout in 2025.
You’ll need to fill in a few details including your RCOT membership number, so make sure you have this to hand.
You'll find guides on how to get the most out of research connect on RCOT Communities ‘Help’ section.

Who are the Research Champions?
The RCOT Research Champions are members who have volunteered through a self-nomination process to support the network. They act as role models for the profession and help champion our vision to build our UK-wide Research Connect network to ensure that occupational therapy is a research active profession informed by evidence.
They have varied experience in research, covering many areas and research topics.
Our Research Champions will:
- promote engagement in the group by encouraging networking and discussion
- signpost you to resources, research experience opportunities and funding
- promote the research agenda, and encourage and inspire individuals with diverse backgrounds to engage in and with research and help promote, showcase and celebrate occupational therapy research
- raise awareness of the importance of translating research into real-world improvements in practice
All our Research Champions demonstrate skills and experience in our Career Development Framework, at Level 4 or above in the leadership and research pillars, but above all else they have an enthusiasm for research and helping others to connect.
If you’d like to become a Research Champion look out for further opportunities.
