The Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) welcomes today's publication of the Welsh Government Recovery Plan. The long-term commitment of the Welsh Government to provide community-based, holistic services delivered by allied health professionals, including occupational therapists, will help to develop new models of care to support individuals and develop new ways of working in order to significantly improve health outcomes for the citizens of Wales.
Dai Davies, RCOT Professional Practice Lead in Wales, said: " The future development of integrated community care services, including optimal use of allied health professionals, will ensure an increased provision of recovery and rehabilitation services for care home residents, as well as supporting people living with orthopaedic problems, dementia, Long-COVID and other long-term physical and mental health conditions. Additionally, the Welsh Government's commitment to reducing the disparities in living conditions across the country is a vital step towards improving health and wellbeing for the people of Wales, and RCOT looks forward to occupational therapists being involved in the implementation of these plans."
