Sensory processing and enabling occupation
The Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) receives many enquiries from occupational therapists, members of the public, commissioners and others about sensory approaches, training and interventions.
In this film, experienced practitioners describe how they developed their knowledge and understanding of sensory processing and the role sensory processing has in their work with children, young people and adults. They also explain how they monitor the impact of sensory interventions on occupational performance and participation.
The film details some RCOT resources to help occupational therapists develop their understanding of sensory processing and the evidence behind it, along with professional development tools occupational therapists (individuals and teams) can use to capture their learning and apply this to their practice.
