We’re running a survey looking into children’s access to occupational therapy across the UK. The survey is open until 9pm on Friday 29 July 2022.
If you’re a children’s occupational therapist in the UK, whatever setting or level you’re working at, we want to hear from you.
In July 2021, we carried out a survey to understand how COVID has impacted children’s access to occupational therapy.
- 70% of you who took part said, due to the pandemic you couldn’t provide the occupational therapy that children and young people needed.
- Barriers included restricted access to schools, increased demand and staff shortages.
-
Many of you said schools were reluctant to allow OTs to visit, even though the Department of Education (DfE) said they should be allowed.
-
We used what you told us to call on DfE to do more to enable children’s access to OT.
-
Following our calls, DfE published guidance setting expectations that children in England can access direct interventions including occupational therapy in school.
This new survey looks at the situation 12 months on. We want to make sure children, young people and families get the help they need, when they need it. We’ll be using the survey findings to guide our work and to discuss with policymakers and service commissioners.
Fill in our survey by 9pm on Friday 29 July 2022. It takes around 20 minutes.
Thank you for your support.
