The countdown is on to our virtual Annual Conference on Wednesday 30 June and Thursday 1 July 2021. We want to make sure you get the most out of attending the showcase event for occupational therapy.
Annual Conference 2021 is virtual for the first time which brings many advantages that extend beyond the duration of the live event. Not least, being able to attend from wherever you are.
To help you make the most of these, check out our tips for attending virtual Annual Conference.
1. Book your place as soon as possible: give yourself plenty of time to prepare for Annual Conference so you can get maximum benefit.
2. Familiarise yourself with the event platform: you will have access to the Annual Conference platform from Monday 21 June. See what’s happening and where so it’s easy to find on the day.
3. Build your own interactive schedule: check out the programme and decide in advance which sessions you want to attend. Each theme has its own colour so you can easily find relevant sessions. And remember, you can access content afterwards.
4. Set up your delegate profile: include your interests to make it even easier to connect with like-minded delegates.
5. Take part with colleagues and friends: arrange to catch up after a session or message each other using the chat box.
6. Get involved: ask questions in the Q&As, give your views in the polls, book chats with presenters, take part in chat rooms.
7. Think about your CPD: events, sessions and presentations can be considered CPD activities if you reflect on what you’ve learned and apply it to improve your practice. CPD@RCOT has resources to support you with this.
8. Minimise distractions: find a quiet space, use headphones, block out time in your calendar, set an out of office message on your emails, put your phone away, don’t try to multitask.
9. Have regular breaks: build these into your Annual Conference schedule, stand up and stretch, get fresh air, walk around between sessions.
10. Take full advantage of on-demand content: don’t try and do too much, and don’t worry about schedule clashes as you can catch up afterwards.
11. And finally, have fun! Annual Conference is a chance to immerse yourself in occupational therapy, develop your knowledge and practice, share experiences, network and meet new people.
