Meet the team

RCOT is a rewarding and collaborative place to work. We focus on the impact we deliver for our members and are committed to doing our best to achieve that. Here are a few colleagues who you’ll meet when you join us. We’re all looking forward to working with you!

Our structure

We have five directorates, who work collaboratively to deliver our strategy. Here’s a summary of what we do in our teams.

Brand and Marketing

We’re working to transform awareness of occupational therapy across the UK, making sure it’s understood, respected and valued and that the vital contributions our members make to a healthier society are recognised and celebrated. Our teams – spanning brand, PR, communications, digital, content and data – work together to create effective insight-driven strategies to increase brand awareness, drive membership growth, increase income generation and ensure great member and customer experiences at every touchpoint.

Movement Building and Membership

We’re here to provide fantastic membership experience, interactions, and services to our members, and are always focused on our members and member growth. Our teams work to understand, support and activate our membership, to bring the profession together into a powerful movement for change across the UK. Our aim is to inspire our members, build communities and support our members to be as effective as possible, individually, and collectively.

Practice and Innovation

Our goal is to ensure that we, and the profession, have a strong voice and international presence. We work with members, external stakeholders and partners to strengthen the evidence base that shows the impact of occupational therapy. We champion a culture of research and service innovation, and drive forward and support pre-registration education pathways to build a resilient and sustainable workforce.

People, Finance and Governance

We have an ambitious strategy to deliver, and our people are the driving force behind that. We’re building a forward-looking, high performing, inclusive and values-led culture which enables our people to thrive and achieve the best outcomes for the occupational therapy profession. Being a well-run and efficient organisation is an integral part of our culture too; we’re committed to the highest standards of governance and financial management.

Strategy, Technology and Transformation

Our role is focused on driving the delivery of our strategy, so that we can become a more agile, focused and membership-led organisation with technology at its heart. We’re here to enable colleagues to make the best use of technology, deliver projects which have the most impact for our members and support the day-to-day running of the business.

Find out about our colleagues in our Senior Leadership Team who lead our directorates.

Equity, diversity and belonging

We’re committed to leading innovative change so that we build a sense of belonging for our colleagues, members and the populations we serve. We value diversity – of skills, perspectives, backgrounds and experiences - so that we can create an inclusive and productive workplace where everyone can thrive.

We have several colleague networks to support colleagues and provide a space for discussion and reflection, as well as promote allyship. These include the LGBTQIA+ Network, the Ethnos Network (for Black, Asian and minoritised ethnic communities) and the Disability Network. This is just the start; we want to build on these and create more tailored supportive groups.

Hybrid working

We work flexibly so that we can deliver the best outcomes for our members and colleagues. Our re-designed office means that we all benefit from an energising workspace that delivers flexibility, supporting in-person collaboration and the best hybrid-working experience.

About occupational therapy

If you’re new to occupational therapy, you’ll want to learn about the profession and our members when you join us. Ahead of that, here’s a brief overview and some handy links.

Occupational therapy helps you live your best life – at home, at work, and everywhere else. It’s about being able to do the ‘occupations’ you need, want and have to do. That could mean overcoming challenges while learning at school, going to work, playing sport or simply doing the dishes.

Occupational therapists see beyond diagnoses and limitations. They focus on hopes and aspirations. They work with you to recommend adjustments to the way you live by looking at the relationship between the activities you do every day, the challenges you’re facing, and your environment. These adjustments are practical, realistic and personal to you, to help you achieve the breakthroughs you need to elevate your everyday life.

Find out more about occupational therapy and our careers website – ChooseOT – is also a great place to learn more about what it’s like to be an OT. We have many OTs who work at RCOT who will be happy to talk to you about their profession when you join us.

Any questions?

We’ll share much more information with you when you join us. If you have any questions about RCOT or your new role ahead of that, please get in touch with your manager or email people.culture@rcot.co.uk
