Welcome to the May issue of OTnews. Features this month focus on several collaborative and innovative ways occupational therapists are combining their core skills with other disciplines to support those who access services.
We hear from OT Lucy Maher, whose yoga training has set her on a whole new pathway when it comes to serving others. Then, Catriona Jorgensen tells us how she has been pivotal in creating a safe space for new mums in her perinatal mental health service, working closely with a specialist health visitor.
Following on from last month’s focus, Dawn Mohun shares the work NHS Highlands has been doing to expand the reach of occupational therapy into the armed forces and veterans community, while Sandra Brooks reflects on the importance of advocating for our profession in eating disorders services.
And finally, we have Jon Fisher, who shares his experience of developing the occupational therapy role in a specialist drug and alcohol service.
We’re also excited to bring you news about a number of RCOT’s recent activities, including the findings from both our workforce and sustainability pulse surveys and a look at the new resources to come out of the joint Health Education England (HEE) and RCOT project, with learning for all four nations.
That's just a glimpse of what's in this issue. If you have anything to share about your own work or ideas, please email us at editorial@rcot.co.uk. You can also read our issues online or in print.
