RCOT Carnduff Learner Peer Group

The RCOT Carnduff Learner Forum has now evolved to become the RCOT Carnduff Learner Peer Group (RCLPG). This group consists of 10-12 occupational therapy students and apprentices.

This is in response to RCOT members asking to have more direct involvement in shaping and driving strategic priorities, as well as having more flexible and inclusive opportunities to work with us.

This group will play an important role in our plans going forward and will form part of the advisory groups.

There are seven advisory groups, including four national advisory groups to support the delivery of our first-ever workforce strategy. 

  • Workforce strategy advisory group (UK-wide) 
  • Advisory group for England’s action plan for the Workforce strategy 
  • Advisory group for Scotland’s action plan for the Workforce strategy 
  • Advisory group for Northern Ireland’s action plan for the Workforce strategy
  • Advisory group for Wales’s action plan for the Workforce strategy 
  • Research and Innovation Advisory Group (UK-wide), focused on development of our new Research and Innovation Strategy 
  • Learning and Development Standards Expert Advisory Group. 

How to apply to join the peer group

The recruitment process will happen once a year. 

The details of the questions to be answered will be made available when the application window opens.

Review criteria

When reviewing your applications, we will be considering responses that:

  • are within the word count/time limit
  • provide/demonstrate a clearly articulated answer to all elements of the question
  • provide/demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the required skills, demonstrating a high level of self-awareness
  • provide/demonstrate knowledge and understanding of some appropriate strategies to engage with learners representative of the pre-registration population, and how to utilise this learning for the peer group
  • provide/demonstrate knowledge and understanding of potential personal benefit to peer group membership.

Ann Carnduff's legacy

We created the forum using a legacy of £10,000, left by Ann Carnduff to support occupational therapy students and apprentices. Ann was head of the Glasgow Occupational Therapy school, now part of Glasgow Caledonian University.
